Huawei to Sell Smartphone Ascend D2, Ascend Mate

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. launched two smartphone models before the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to challenge its rivals including Samsung and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL).
The two latest large-sized and high-resolution smartphone models of Huawei are Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate. Ascend D2 has a high-resolution display screen of 443 pixels per inch, compared with 300 pixels per inch of the most advanced mobile phones of Samsung and Apple.
Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch screen, the largest in the world, compared with Samsung's largest smartphone Galaxy Note II, which has a 5.5-inch screen.
Huawei plans to sell Ascend D2 in China and Japan from January and in other countries later. Ascend Mate is planned to be sold in China from February and in other countries in the following months.
Huawei claimed that the smartphones would also be sold in Europe and it was negotiating with US operators over the sale of the products as well. However, the company is yet to disclose the prices of these terminals.
