Xperia Smartphones Now Available in the U.S. Market via Brightstar


Sony Xperia smartphones saw sales of approximately 9 million units in Q4 2011, according to a source. The Xperia NXT series of devices, in particular, have observed increased demand due to their features that meet the consumer needs for content integration.

In an effort to bring Sony’s flagship Xperia smartphones to the U.S. market, Brightstar (News - Alert) Corp. – a specialized wireless distributor and a firm offering services and solutions for the wireless industry – will start marketing the Xperia smartphones in the U.S. These smartphones are expected to become available through Brightstar's extensive distribution channels this summer throughout the country.

As a specialized wireless distributor, Brightstar currently supports more than 80,000 points of sale worldwide with operations in 51 countries and territories and provides a comprehensive range of more than 100 customized services for value-added distribution, supply chain optimization, retail, IT VARs mobility, and consumers.

According to Brightstar, its services facilitate customers manage the growing complexity of the wireless device value chain and enable customers to increase product availability, expand their channel reach and drive supply chain efficiencies by getting the right products to the right place at the right time for the best value.

Some of the Xperia NXT series devices available at Brightstar include the Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U. These devices will be available to consumers across the country in urban or rural markets.

“Brightstar's ability to serve national and regional operators will enable Sony Mobile Communications to reach a wider audience with its Xperia smartphones,” said Marcelo Claure, chairman and CEO of Brightstar, in a statement. “We look forward to bringing innovation across the country, especially to underserved communities.”

According to a press release, Brightstar will provide Sony Mobile Communications with various services including forward logistics, programming, reverse logistics with warranty support and customized go-to-market solutions. The agreement will leverage Brightstar's regional and local expertise.

TMCnet reported recently that Brightstar showcased its comprehensive portfolio of wireless solutions at this year’s Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona.
