Panasonic Selects Mocana Mobile Security Technology for its Tablets

There has been a steady rise in the use of Android (News - Alert) devices across the mobile market in recent years. As Android devices reach more and more consumers, business professionals and government employees, their risk for being targeted for attack also increases.

In the event a device is lost or stolen, data stored on the device is at risk of misuse. Mocana (News - Alert) is a company that provides solutions such as VeloDAR Encryption to tackle this issue.

The company recently announced that Panasonic will bundle and pre-load its FIPS-certified Android security software on Panasonic's (News - Alert) new line of midsized tablets. Mocana VeloDAR Encryption software will now come preloaded in Panasonic BizPad 7-inch and the Panasonic BizPad 10.1-inch tablets.

Mocana’s VeloDAR Encryption is an optimized data-at-rest (DAR) encryption solution that uses Mocana’s government-certified (FIPS 140-2 Level 1) cryptographic module, NanoCrypto. NanoCrypto is ideal for embedded systems environments that lack proper resources such as smartphones and tablets, the company stated in a press release.

“Panasonic's new BizPads are at the forefront of the midsize-tablet and enterprise BYOD trends," said Mocana Vice President of Market Development Kurt Stammberger. "But both of these trends are underlining a more fundamental enterprise requirement: mobile security. Mocana is proud to be built in to the Panasonic BizPad, and you can look forward to even more new Android security features from Mocana, coming in Panasonic products, soon.”

The company also recently unveiled its latest version of MAP, which provides comprehensive security to Apple (News - Alert) iOS apps. With this cross-platform iOS and Android support, MAP 2.0 makes it easier, automates and secures mobile app management for enterprise IT and the employees, partners and customers they serve.
