AT&T, a premier communications holding company, will introduce its first 4G LTE (News - Alert) smartphone with eco-friendly features. The smartphone ‘Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate’ is manufactured with an environment concern in mind. It features a rear casing made from 80 percent recycled (post-consumer waste) material. The phone is packaged with a low-load, energy-efficient charger that alerts customers when the device is fully charged.
The Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy Exhilarate also possesses a 4-inch touchscreen Super AMOLED display, a dual core 1.2 GHz Scorpion processor, voice recognition and access to AT&T U-verse Live TV. The phone also has a 5-megapixel auto-focus rear-facing camera that lets you record videos in 720p HD and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. Effective June 10, the handset will be offered in all AT&T (News
- Alert) channels for $49.99 with a two-year agreement.
Exhilarate is also the first 4G LTE smartphone to obtain platinum certification from UL Environment, a business unit of Underwriters Laboratories (News - Alert) (UL). UL Environment sets minimum requirements for "environmentally preferable" mobile devices. While providing certification, UL environment considers environmentally sensitive materials, energy management, manufacturing and operations, impact to health and environment, product performance, packaging and product stewardship.
In a press release, Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices, AT&T Mobility, said, “AT&T is committed to developing and supporting products, like the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate, that enable consumers to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing features or the ability to enjoy a world-class smartphone experience. We're working hard every day to empower consumer choice and provide consumers with more options in-store as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability."
AT&T will also offer Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate in two custom case options by Incipio. The ECO SILICRYLIC cases are made from a combination of biodegradable and recycled materials. The cases consist of two parts, of which inner silicone rubber is made from recycled silicone regrind material. The outer cover of ECO SILICRYLIC is made of bio resin plastic. Hence, ECO SILICRYLIC complements the environmentally conscious features of the smartphone it protects.
AT&T was recently in news when AT&T AdWorks announced its new alignment as part of AT&T's Home Solutions group. AT&T has appointed Mike Welch as president of AT&T AdWorks.
