HP introduced the world to the ElitePad 900 earlier today, which balances a beautiful design with enterprise-grade features, functionality and support. Added to its next-generation lineup, the company has unveiled a business-class Windows 8 tablet that will launch early next year.
Unlike the ENVY x 2 convertible notebooks, the ElitePad 900 is a true tablet – but with a twist. Aimed at enterprise users, HP’s ElitePad 900 is a powerful Windows 8 tablet that will likely appeal to consumers as well. Thanks to a 9.2-millimeter thin aluminum case and lightweight Corning (News - Alert) Gorilla Glass 2 covering the screen, the device weighs only 1.5 pounds and features a large 10.1-inch high-definition display.
Featuring the latest Intel (News - Alert) mobile processors, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1080p front-facing camera, 32GB or 64GB or SSD storage, along with an optional integrated 4G with hotspot support, the device can handle finger, stylus or voice input.

HP’s various “Smart Jackets” are thrown into the mix, making things a bit more interesting for the ElitePad 900. The tablet can be placed into one of a number of jacket accessories using a unique docking system that transforms the device and adds a variety of functionality. Smart Jackets include the Expansion Jacket, which adds USB, HDMI and other connectivity options as well as an optional second battery along with the Productivity Jacket, which integrates a keyboard, a set of connectivity ports and an SD card reader.
Various accessories for the tablet including a docking station, a rugged case and a stylus will also be available from HP. This coming January, however, the HP ElitePad 900 will launch, and the pricing has not yet been announced.
Hewlett-Packard also announced that a steady stream of Windows 8 computers will be launched ahead of the holidays this year.
