Libratone Unveils No-Compromise, Hassle-Free Wireless Speaker

Libratone has announced its Libratone Zipp, reportedly the first no-compromise, hassle-free wireless speaker.

The company wanted to design a speaker that makes high-end sound portable and truly wireless, said Tommy Andersen, CEO at Libratone, adding that similar to a pair of headphones, Libratone Zipp follows users wherever they go – around the house, to work, in the park or on vacation.

“PlayDirect technology makes Libratone Zipp a wireless, out-of-the-box product. Setting your music free has never been this easy,” he said.

Libratone Zipp is a compact portable speaker that delivers the performance of AirPlay (News - Alert), eliminating the need for a Wi-Fi network and complicated setup due to the company’s all-new PlayDirect technology.

The company’s PlayDirect creates a direct Wi-Fi connection between the speaker and any compatible device, making it possible to stream the audio from an iPad, iPhone (News - Alert), iPod Touch or computer without the need for an in-home Wi-Fi connection.

Working in conjunction with AirPlay technology, PlayDirect creates a direct Wi-Fi connection between the Libratone Zipp and any compatible device such as an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or computer. Libratone Zipp is immediately ready to deliver a high-quality audio experience, whether connected through AirPlay or using PlayDirect, according to company officials.

The battery-powered Libratone Zipp enables users to take wireless high-end audio to the outside world as well, eliminating the need to be close to a wireless network. Additionally, the Libratone Zipp features changeable wool covers in eight vivid colors to suit all tastes and occasions.

FullRoom technology is a 360-degree sound experience created by specially designed drivers inside the Libratone Zipp. It disperses sound in all directions for an “unrivalled” experience.

Calling the round shape of Libratone Zipp an example of how design and functionality can go hand in hand, Kristian Kroyer, creative director at Libratone, said the cylinder shape combined with the FullRoom technology makes Libratone Zipp a social speaker, including everyone in the music experience.
