Axis 360 Incorporates Compatibility with EPUB, PDF Formats


Baker & Taylor, a major distributor of books, digital information and entertainment products across the globe, has released an enhanced version of its Axis (News - Alert) 360 digital media platform. The latest release includes compatibility with EPUB and PDF formats, allowing library customers to use ereaders like NOOK, Sony Reader and Kobo devices for reading ebooks.

Axis 360, which is compatible with a majority of multi-function phones, tablets and ereader devices, can be used by library customers to locate, explore and read digital titles from their local library. Customers can choose the best suitable ebook format, EPUB or PDF as well as access the completely-accessible, ereader app, Blio. Available for no extra cost, Blio is compatible with Apple (News - Alert) iOS, Android and Windows devices and provides in-depth features and information.

In a statement, George Coe, president of library & education at Baker & Taylor said, "The newly-enhanced Axis 360 ensures that patrons with the most popular tablets, as well as dedicated ereaders, can tap into their library's digital collection. With Axis 360, libraries know they are providing all their patrons the best and most options to access and experience ebooks. Baker & Taylor has a number of other enhancements – such as spoken word audio and other features – coming soon for Axis 360, to make more content readily available to more patrons, and to help libraries boost their circulation and better serve their communities."

The latest digital media transmission and management platform, Axis 360 from Baker & Taylor is currently being used by several of the best public, K-12 school and academic libraries across the nation. Visually impaired individuals can also access a world of information using this completely-accessible platform.

All libraries currently using Axis 360 will be upgraded to the latest release. The latest version will be used by Baker & Taylor as a base for the continuous expansion and augmentation of digital media library. Baker & Taylor's digital media library currently has approximately 300,000 electronic titles, accessible to all library customers.
