Belkin will release the first official third party device for the new Apple iPhone (News - Alert) 5, a rapid charger for the car and a charge/sync dock. Belkin was the first third party developer to make products for Apple devices in 2003 and now they will be the first in 2012.
When Apple (News - Alert) started rolling out their products, they used a thirty pin connector to charge and use their products. With the recent releases of the new Apple products such as the iPhone 5, the fifth generation of the iPod Touch, the seventh generation of the iPod Nano, the fourth generation of the iPad, and last week’s iPad Mini, they have to switch to a smaller connector that uses eight pins.
Martin Avila, general manager of Belkin’s core division, was excited to say, “Belkin was the first third-party manufacturer to develop accessories for the 30-pin connector back in 2003, and we are thrilled to be first to market again with solutions for the new Lightning connector. People are eager for Lightning accessories and Belkin gives them a reliable way to keep their new iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini or iPod touch charged, protected, and ready to go."
The Belkin Charge + Sync Dock is an important release, as Apple has yet to offer this type of device to its loyal users. The dock will be compatible with phones using protective cases; it will feature a folding auxiliary jack, a magnetic base and a groove for the Lightning cable to slide through. The dock will not be accompanied with a Lightning cable and users will have to use the cable that comes with their phone. It will also have an audio jack that the newly repositioned audio port can easily slide onto for use while it is charging.
The Lightning car charger will be made in similarity to the hugely popular Belkin slim line charger and will feature a voltage protector and a four foot charging cable.
