Verizon Releases Samsung Galaxy Camera in Cobalt Black, for 4G LTE

With the number of different smartphones that offer users the ability to take pictures and video, some might think that the digital camera is becoming a bit of a relic. It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Camera is proving those who believe that top notch cameras are a thing of the past, wrong. A recent study even found that the camera is so good that it is even beating out tablets as one of the top gifts this holiday season. One of the reasons this device has been so popular recently is because the camera can actually connect to the Web all by itself.

This functionality means that the camera can actually participate in social media in much of the same way most of our phones do. The camera can upload photos and video straight to sites like Facebook and Twitter (News - Alert), only the pictures will be far higher quality than what you find on a phone.

The people at Verizon (News - Alert) have recently announced that the camera is even better now as it can actually connect to social sites using their 4G LTE (News - Alert) network. This is the first device of its kind to actually use the 4G network in this way. AT&T has also released a version of the device that works on their HSPA+ 4G network. Verizon’s version, which comes out today, is cobalt black. That is different than the AT&T (News - Alert) version, which is white.

Most of the specs for the Verizon version are the same as the ones that AT&T has on the market, but there are a couple of differences. The Verizon version will be running with Android’s Jelly Bean OS. Using an Android operating system also allows for easy and quick communication between the camera and the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. This means that users can share photos almost instantly on their phones or Web, depending on the owner’s desires.
