The Ultimate Emergency Charger

There is a chance of a crisis happening in our technology-driven digital world that can leave people panicked and restless – a.k.a when our batteries die.  People seem almost grief stricken when the battery life of their iPhone (News - Alert) or tablet dies on a daily basis, so in the wake of an emergency when our power lines are down, you can only imagine the trauma people face.

Although there have been a few developments in the battery industry that can relieve the possibility of this threat – such as solar power rechargeable cases – they don’t provide the longevity that some situations need. To solve this issue, MetAir Solstice has taken it one step further by creating the ultimate compact battery system that doesn’t require gasoline or any form of power to function.

According to Globe News Wire, QuantumSphere, Inc. (QSI), a leading provider of advanced metal air battery systems, revealed today that it will be launching a power project, MetAir Solstice, which includes 55,000 mAh zinc-air battery and USB mobile device charger.

The MetAir Solstice is non-rechargeable, eco-friendly compact battery system designed specifically for emergency situations or to back-up power applications. The battery provides the equivalent energy capacity of 115"D" cell batteries, under a 2amp load at a fraction of the size, weight and cost, with integrated room light and radio features.

In light of the threat of natural disasters that we face (including the most recent hurricane in the North East) it was made very obvious that the effects of losing power have changed because of technology. Generators, for example, are not equipped to provide light and power to a household filled with computers, lap tops, tablets and cell phones.

The immensity of the power that this battery contains can be understood more clearly in terms of our mobile device standards. It provides:

  • More than 20 full charges to your iPhone 5
  • More than 5 full charges to your iPad 3
  • And LED room lights for six hours a night - up to 12 consecutive nights, stated by Globe News Wire.

The loss of power effects can affect the way schools, homes and work environments operate on daily basis because of our dependence on mobile devices. In hopes that we don’t have to face disasters that will result in causalities but rather emergencies that require back up power, MetaAir has created a new generation of battery sources that can be used for any situation.

In the third quarter of 2013 MetAir Solstice will be available online at their online school and through select retailers for $119 and the high-power replaceable / disposable 55,000 mAh zinc-air battery cartridge will be available at for $49.
