Cavium, a provider of highly integrated semiconductor products, announced that Acer's (News - Alert) new line of WiView wireless monitors will be featuring its low latency PureVu CNW6611 media processor for facilitating wireless media connectivity.
The Acer WiView monitors will be making use of the features built into the Cavium processor for wireless transfer of HD video over Wi-Fi from PCs. The wireless transmission would use standard wireless display protocols as well as file-based DLNA content streaming from a digital media server on the home network.
Acer asserted that it has a strong history of bringing innovative home entertainment products to the market. The introduction of WiView wireless monitors based on Cavium's PureVu is a clear example of such innovation, enabling seamless wireless connectivity and access to a wide range of media content around the home.
According to Cavium, the PureVu CNW6611 is a highly-integrated SOC that provides superior H.264, VC-1,AVS (News - Alert), MPEG4, H.263 and MPEG2 video decoding with high quality video scaling, motion adaptive de-interlacing, and integrated video DACs. A high performance embedded ARM (News
- Alert) processor supports Linux optimized driver and RTOS as well as the embedded software middleware applications.
The CNW6611 is optimized for system performance, cost, and power consumption requirements of wireless display adapter market. The low latency video decoding pipeline integrated into the processor is optimized for full interactivity. The video post-processing engine can provide sophisticated frame rate conversion and scaling features, enabling optimal display of various contents up to 1080p resolution.
Officials with the company claimed that they are very pleased to see Acer's launch of its new line of Cavium-based wireless monitors. Cavium has been a pioneer in Wi-Fi-based wireless display and home video distribution technology. Acer's new line of wireless monitors is a prime example of the differentiated products Cavium's industry-leading media processors are designed to enable.
