Gadgets -Laskys Earns Spot as First U.K. Reseller of new Apple iPods

Laskys recently beat out other companies — including Dixons, Currys and Pixmania — to become the first U.K.-based online retailer to sell Apple’s (News - Alert) new line of iPods.

“It was important that we sent out the right message with the launch,” said  Richard Calcutt, trading manager for Laskys, in a statement. “We want to show our customers and visitors that we are a professional outfit with the ability to deliver the latest and best products available. We know how popular the iPods are, and they're likely to only become even more popular, so it was vital that we acted as swiftly as possible.”

Calcutt went on: “MP3 players are an important line of business for us. Although our core business remains as home entertainment equipment such as LCD TVs and Plasma TVs, MP3 players allows us to expand into different markets. Not everyone knows that we sell other types of products like iPods, or even Laptops and PCs, so this is our way of telling people that we do more than just LCD TVs.”

The new line of Apple iPods — Shuffle, Nano, Classic and Touch —include features like a rotating two-inch screen that flips from portrait to landscape mode when turned on its side.
