Gadgets -F-Origin, PVI Partner to Develop 8-inch SVGA Display Module

F-Origin, creator of zTouch input technology and Prime View International (PVI), a provider of LCD and e-paper technology, jointly announced the availability of an 8-inch super video graphics array (SVGA) display module, which will be used for point-of-sale (POS) applications.

The new display module integrates PVI's TFT-LCD display screen technology with F-Origin’s zTouch technology. It features a high quality 8-inch SVGA display along with sensitive zTouch touch technology - all in a single, easy to integrate unit. These features facilitate original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMS) to reduce integration costs and as well helps in reducing product development cycles, thereby quicker time to market.

According to F-Origin, the new display module offers high display quality accompanied by high accuracy and high durability. The zTouch technology is the main cause for the products durability. Unlike the resistive film that can quickly break down due to sunlight and natural degradation over time, zTouch offers more durability. The new product is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.

F-Origin said its innovative patented zTouch technology embedded into display devices, reacts to input from any device, whether it's from a finger or a stylus. This facilitates for optimal handwriting recognition and gesture interpretation. It provides forced sensitivity and tactile feedback.

A thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) is a type of LCD that utilizes thin film transistor (TFT) technology, in order to enhance image quality. These are primarily used in television sets, computer monitors, mobile phones and computers, personal digital assistants, navigation systems, projectors and more. PVI leverages TFT-LCD technology to develop its display devices.

"Our collaboration with PVI allows us to deliver powerful screens for a range of uses, including in-car navigation and Point-of-Sale applications," said Joe Carsanaro, president and CEO of F-Origin. "Our partnership with PVI will continue to bring the best possible touch-screen and touch-pad products to the market."

"PVI is excited to join forces with F-Origin to deliver a truly unique touch screen solution," said Scott Liu, chairman and CEO of PVI. "PVI have been a market leader in the small to middle size TFT-LCD industry for a decade. We believe zTouch technology will stimulate significant growth in many new applications in the coming months."

F-Origin also announced that a 15-inch Point-of-Sale Display (POS), which will be based on its zTouch technology and will be delivered with market-leading functionality.
