Gadgets -Telacoustics Audio Processing Solution Selected for Motorola Headset

Telacoustics reportedly announced that the latest addition to its TAP technology suite of audio processing for bone conduction has been incorporated in the Motorola (News - Alert) Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth headset. This headset is a true bone conduction Bluetooth headset available in the market said company sources.

Telacoustics’ signal processing for bone conduction along with the multiple microphone processing capability is implemented within the HX1 headset. Bone conduction is actually a technology which was developed originally for special military forces. It employs a sensor which detects vocal vibrations and converts them into audio signals.

The chief advantage of this technology is the high levels of clarity provided owing to the fact that the only audio that is transmitted is the voice and not any other surrounding ambient noise, confirmed company sources.

“We are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with Motorola on this revolutionary product,” Ira Gerson, president and founder of Telacoustics, said. “Not only is the product an impressive technological achievement, but we are proud that Telacoustics was able to provide the audio processing solution for the HX1’s pioneering bone conduction technology.”

Telacoutics offers licenses for both its proprietary TAP audio processing system for handsets and headsets. It is integrated into many Motorola-branded products including the HX1, H17, H15, H790 and H780 Bluetooth headsets, as well as the MOTO VE66, and Tundra VA76r mobile phones.

Using proprietary DSP algorithms, TAP pinpoints voice communications while filtering undesired noise. TAP is a software-based audio processing system and it offers a suite of multi-microphone solutions. These cancel both stationary and non-stationary noise and are flexible to handle different microphone placements. TAP features fast noise adaptation, low latency, low processing and memory requirements. It has been ported to both 16-bit and 24-bit DSP architectures.

The company specializes in the delivery of next-generation audio solutions using innovative noise reduction techniques to manufacturers of communication products. The company’s TAP technology has been licensed by Motorola and other companies. It provides a very high degree of audio intelligibility even in very noisy and unpredictable real-world applications. Telacoutics helps companies introduce products with optimized audio quality.
