Forget about Cartier, Harry Winston and Tiffany. The bling celebrities are wearing this season is the anklet from AMS.
That’s AMS, as in Alcohol Monitoring Systems Inc.
VIPs from the big screen to the basketball court have been seen wearing alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelets. That list, according to a recent story, includes Eve and Jayson Williams.
And now, wonder of wonders, that sweet little redhead Lindsay Lohan is just the latest celeb sporting the public-issued jewelry. Lohan again finds herself at the center of an alcohol-related brouhaha that has gotten her in trouble with the law.
An AP report on the situation says Lohan missed her court hearing . A judge, angered because the actress didn't show up last week in Beverly Hills, Calif., required Lohan to wear the bracelet.
Established in 1997, Colorado-based AMS manufactures SCRAM, which it has dubbed the world’s only Continuous Alcohol Monitoring system. It uses non-invasive transdermal analysis to monitor alcohol consumption.
SCRAM automates the alcohol testing and reporting process, providing courts and community corrections agencies with the ability to monitor alcohol offenders, increase offender accountability and assess compliance with sentencing requirements and treatment guidelines.
