Gadgets -iPad Scores Yet Again with Sports Illustrated

Using WoodWing's digital magazine tools, Sports Illustrated has been launchedon iPad. Acknowledging the launch, Wood Wing indicated that the iPad version produced an exhilarating experience, and had taken the user interface of the iPad magazine to a higher level.
 
Through the extensive use of hotspots, pop-ups, live Web content and sharing functions, the content has been enriched, resulting in an exhilarating experience. The publishers were able to easily create beautifully designed and compelling content for the iPad and to distribute it through a branded Reader app that offers a unique end-user experience. All this was made possible by Wood Wing's tools and Adobe InDesign technology.

The tools and technology helped to speed up the process of creating news pages, helped to work efficiently with multiple columns, saved a lot of time, and produced a consistency throughout. 

Packed with new and interactive features, the iPad version of Sports Illustrated immerses its readers in a revolutionary magazine-reading experience.
 
"Sports Illustrated succeeded in turning the iPad version of their magazine into something unique," Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software, said, and added that not only has the famous 'wheel' to operate various sharing functions been implemented in the app, but the newest features were also extensively used. He was amazed at the creative applications that they had come up with.
 
The interactive features are very compelling. Touching the screen for about a second brings up a navigation wheel. This has options, which allow users to share content via the social networks. E-mails can be sent and Web statistics or related pictures and articles can be also accessed.
 
Hotspots and overlays, add extra layers of information to the content directly visible on the screen. This has also been applied to the advertisements, making them "multi-dimensional."

"WoodWing's talented development team lived up to our expectations by adding a number of great new features to the creation tools and the iPad reader, so that the Sports Illustrated experience on the iPad would meet our requirements,"Mitchell A. Klaif, CIO of Time Inc, said.

Schut said that many additional features were being developed at the present, and the present iPad apps were sufficient evidence of their potential, limited only by the designer's imagination.
 
The Wonderfactory, a New York-based digital strategy and design agency focused on publishers and advertisers, and WoodWing Software, supplier of innovative cross-media publishing solutions, have collaborated on a publishing industry first: tools that enable publishers to produce beautifully-designed and compelling content for the iPad in almost the same way they create content for print.
